Most patients need a course of treatments every 2 weeks. The exact number depends on the size, depth, duration and type of verruca. Your podiatrist will assess your case and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

Yes — you can continue normal life immediately. No dressings are required and there is no recovery time. The treated area may feel slightly tender for 24–48 hours but this does not prevent normal activities.

No — there is no open wound after professional freezing treatment. The skin may appear white or slightly red immediately after treatment, but this settles quickly.

Yes — professional cryotherapy is effective for many stubborn, deep and long-standing verrucae. However, for extremely stubborn cases that do not respond to cryotherapy, we may recommend Swift microwave therapy which has one of the highest success rates available.

Over-the-counter freezing kits are consumer-grade products that are significantly weaker than professional clinical cryotherapy. They also do not include hard skin reduction, which is essential for allowing the freeze to penetrate deeper tissue. Professional cryotherapy is stronger, more targeted, more controlled, medically supervised and significantly more effective.

In some cases, yes — but this should only be done if your podiatrist agrees that it is appropriate for your specific case. Combining treatments without clinical guidance can reduce effectiveness or cause complications.

If your verruca has not responded after a reasonable course of cryotherapy, your podiatrist will reassess and discuss alternative options — which may include Swift microwave therapy, Verrutop, verruca needling or combination approaches.

Yes — cryotherapy can be used for mosaic verruca clusters. Each individual verruca within the cluster is treated during the session. Mosaic verrucae often require multiple treatments and may also respond well to Swift microwave therapy.

No special preparation is needed. Just wear or bring comfortable shoes and socks. Avoid using corn plasters, acids or attempting to cut or file the verruca yourself before your appointment, as this can make assessment and treatment more difficult.
